In Japan, We have the old custom of eating porridge with seven herbs on January 7th also known as end of the New Year.
These seven herbs are called “spring seven wild herbs.”
We will eat the porridge for the breakfast on January 7th.
That day is called Jinjitsu no Sekku: one of the 5 seasonal festivals, which literally means person-day festival.
Each ingredient has different kind of medical virtues such as nutritional enhancement and intestinal function. Also the herbs have the lucky charm meanings after the name.
